Lens Envy

Club lesson on lighting set up this week and of course the hat on Steve's head became the subject for part of the night

My Little Babys!

checking the coast is clear, after a while he wasn't bothered by me stood there!

Waiting patiently for three hours, adjusting the focus on a imaginary point! i finally got him coming in to land!
and sundays 366! don't think they'll be here next weekend :( the babes sound more like adults everyday
well the Tamron 70-300 has been a thorn in my side since swapping it for the 55-200. I'm still not sure it was the right choice (in hindshight a Raynox dcr-250 might have been a better buy to fit on the end of the 55-200). But!! its earned its keep this week! and being able to sit in my garden and snap these gorgeous buddies of fun has been a pleasure

Baglan Beach!

Baglan: miles and miles of golden sands! feels more like the set of a star wars film than a Welsh beach

what happens next!

got  a free pass into the NGRR racing at Pembrey today, so shame not to really..
this is my third outing with the tamron and the bikes, i have come to realise that you can take a lot of shots that all look the same, just the paint jobs different. anyhow I was quite chuffed when this fella decided to grab a hand full to much brake and buckle the wheel under himself, gave me a good pic!

5 mins later I had a high side, but alas it was to blurred to rescue! better luck next time to all concerned!

What no 366?

hi Guys, we have decided to stop posting the 366 here every day, just our favourites. :( Why?

well it seems that the original idea of the blog has become lost and filled with snaps, not stories of adventures and our work we found interesting, so alas we will send you to the main site where all the people in our club are sharing! please take the time to look and comment there, and to follow our journeys here too...

365 blog, llanelli photographic society!

in the meantime! yesterday Jen and I went out to the black mountains  with the intention to swap lens, Tamron 90mm for me and 10-20mm Sigma  for Jen! how did it go, well fair to say we both left our comfort zone. i found the reach of the 90mm really hard to adjust to, and couldn't see a shot at all, the flattening effects on the country side didn't work with out a feature to pull on to, and i just couldn't get the macro shots with the breeze!

it was a great play though and I loved the challenge, I'm sure there are shots that I will reach to borrow this lens for sure, but the vastness of the black mountains isn't one!

having played on this road on the bike its quite scary to see the edge from this angle!

Day early

Well I have set the challenge for this week , it is gonna be macro. I thought seeing as we are gonna be critiquing the macro comp for Llanelli Photographic Society it would be good to push our selfs in the difficultes of this subject.
Heres an early one

Japanese Acer

lovely soft play using snapseed for mac.

The last day of red

Its in the title..... found this challenge not so hard as the rest , but it has made me aware of colour in composition. Hope this improves my pics :)
Also gone out of my set editing and put gain in, found this hard to do. Its against my grain, pardon the pun...

Thursday 10 May 2012

who's a pretty boy then

my new siamese fighter, and of course ties in well with the 'red' theme!

Wednesday 9 May 2012

ok its orange not red, but..

working on the 'red' theme, this peg jumped from the garden shouting take my pic, just like the colour red does
so i did!!! :) steve

Mr handsome

A lovely play , and a handsome fella to shoot. Love spiders and bugs and this play has reminded me why I picked up the camera.
This is part of the red challenge, but also shows the scale of the little fella

a freaky little fella!

Me and Jen’s little set up for photographing a Jumping Spider, the theory being he won’t jump into the water!! well it worked and quite nicely too! this week we are also working on a challenge called ‘Red’ for the 366, so, I bring you a ‘redhead’ and the spider we were looking at!

Steve.. :)

Robin Red Breast

At last I have caught an image of a Robin before they hide away!
day 126, done!!!

the end of another week!

Yeap its saturday!!!! (woohoo) we survived the f2.8 challenge unscathed and personally i liked that it reconnected me with the old 35mm lens. Its been lost in my kit bag of late :( anyhow, its easy to overlook old toys when you buy new shiny and its a real shame cos she is so sharp and pretty colours and makes a great lens just to walk about with.

anyhow, after a small debate and reflection on the great critique at the Sosban Trophy on wednesday (llanelli LPS won btw) we decided to use some of the information we received as our challenge for this week. So 'Red' is the theme, why? well we learn that are eyes will always pick out red colours in an image, and that we therefore have to be very car full how we place it, the smallest amount can draw the eye and distract or make a photo. But we didn't state any more then 'Red' so it doesn't have to be about placing red in the image, it could be the emotion or response to the word, anything that makes an association with 'Red'.

steve! x

oh and as i was bored thursday i put together a little video of my 366 from January and February, accompanied by the whispering delights of Radiohead's, Weird Fishes.. enjoy

but still a fun play on a grey ol night! and still managed to keep to the f2.8 of the week for me! been construed to using the 35mm four this weeks challenge and its been a pleasure, like an ol friend!
