Day 31: Gecko

Went shopping (window shopping) and came across this little fell a posing on a fake leaf. What a cutie, I love reptiles but would never keep them. I can imagine Joe with his hands in the tank all the time and seeing as most reptiles have salmonella on there skin it wouldn't be wise of me to have one. Belive it or not I haven't got eyes in the back of my head, tho it is said that every mother does.

But this did give me a macro shot idea that I will be doing in the near future with Steve... hehehe you can buy crickets and locusts for cheep to feed to these fellas, macro night coming I feel.

Cant wait to make Steve jump lol.

capitalism goes honest!

Cheap shot today, but with all the talk of 'sales and discounts' I had a double take walking past the window, I thought capitalism had found a new honesty.

day 29: Awash in my dreams

Well this idea was spurred from Jen, for that i can take no credit at all, all i did was swap the head for a glass head and make it happen!

i am super pleased with this image, i mean over the moon giddy happy! so enjoy and i hope you love it as much as me!!!!

Day 28

Its been a while since we explored in the walking kinda way, it was great. It felt like the time we had in the summer, fresh air to the lungs and camera in hand... I do have more pics than this one but I felt this one should go up just to sum up how the day went.
I really cant wait until the next walking adventure with the camera. Seriously looking forward to the spring. And this time I own a camera mwhahahahaha.............

Day 28: Abbey river

When these four asked me if i'd take there picture as they stood on the stepping stones I had to ask them to pose for an Abbey Road shot didn't I!

A lovely day out down Three Cliffs, bitterly cold but still and bright spells. I haven't been out for a proper walk with the picture box for a while, so I loved this stroll and hopefully have a few other pics form the day too.

Day 27: party

Today was my boys 5th birthday and his first party, which was nerve racking because of the thought of entertaining a group of kids which I hardly know. But   kids being kids a bit of music and toys and they entertained themselves, to my relief.
As for this shot it was taken sneakily just before the kids sat down to eat. Well fun day but really tired now...

Day 27: Tesco does it again

Tesco my new partners in crime have provided me with another shoot. they are proving most usefull for the 366. i am also getting more and more confident using the camera in public and excepting weird looks are a matter of course!

Day 27, done!

Thursday 26 January 2012

Day 26: A man needs a set of wheels!

All these scooters were lined up at work, well I had to didn't I.

If I'm honest scooters haven't changed a great deal since I was a lad, there still noisy, cumbersome, and require a ton of effort to get nowhere. But the seem to have had a revival, big style, now there doing 'tricks' and using ramps to swing them around in 'cool' ways...

Any how all lined up like this reminded me off the boys lined up in the car park in there Ford Cortinas, reving the engines and playing cool while I sat in awe of them. Like some crazy Le Mans race, tonight one of these scooters would carry its name on silver! For now however it was day 26 and my 366!

Steve

day 26

Well these are the remains of two lenses that were left to go mouldy on the glass (makes them useless)... So out of curiosity and to salvage the parts for other proposes I spent about 3 hours figuring out how to take them apart but, its a little harder than it looks. So this dismantle has gone no further for now, I think something steampunk could come of these.

day 24: understatement

Really pleased with these flowers and the edit. glad i toned them down flowers can always be presented for there glorious vibrant tones, i felt i wanted to do something different to that.

steve.

Day 24

Well I snapped this one as a back up  pic just in case I didn't have a chance to play with camera, and gess what I didn't ... slept instead. Oh well tomorrow is another day
Jennyxx

Monday 23 January 2012

Day 22

Well this shot was a quick one... I have played alot tonight and having a snap does no harm in the effort department once in a while..

Jenny xx

day 23

a cheeky little shot as i was locking up tonight.

i feel days like this that i haven't put any effort in, but i guess each day brings a new challenge not just to us as photographers but also as we carry out earning our daily bread.

anyhow, Day 23 done.. and tmrw i get to play cameras in work and get paid, Lush!

Steve

Soft Box Flash Diffuser

Well since steve has got his new flash we have been playing with light , bouncing the light off walls on a set up shoot has been quite good but we have been wondering how to soften the hard light of a straight on flash  (especally when shooting people). Steve has ordered a Soft Box Flash Diffuser , but it wont come for a while.... so now that my son's birthday is due pritty soon i thought i would do a DIY tempory box for photographing the kids at his party.

Now after testing the box here is the two comparison shots with and without the box..

To the right  with box and to the left without

Day 22: winter wilt

Well this pretty flower is the remains of steves orchid, pretty but wilted. I took this while I had the chance as I think steve will cut it off sometime for the new bloom to start to grow... not sure of the shot but people seem to like.

Jenny xx

(i love it, awesome tones, not what i was expecting, could imagine this on a book cover.. Steve)

Day 22: unwanted playground

this 366 project has really opened my eyes, but also made me go and take the shot, not  ' hang on ill do it next week'.  Its cold out there and lying  in the middle of the road in a dark street might not be wise, but well I think the result is clever!
chuffed with this little play, next time though a light in the window upstairs!!!

Day 21: a kid in a candy shop

My little play with the Sigma 10-20mm.. omg i want, its a nice lens and now I’m really seeing what my camera can do with the right glasses! super sharp and lovely vibrant colours. So pleased with how easy it was to edit this pic.

Steve

(jenny).... i can't get over how easy it is to edit (from pictures with this lens) after watching steve do it... there is no resistance and no digital grain to interfere with the edit.. i could see difficult pictures being brought back from darkness with a lot more leeway ...  i need a better lens, meh!

Lens watch!

went to Carmarthen camera centre to day to have a little play with some lenses.
well what was on the table... the Sigma 10-20mm, Tamron 10-24mm and the Tamron SP90mm. well I have to say I loved them all, but if I'm honest was a little disappointed by the feel of the tamron 10-24mm compared to the sigma.

the two pictures are from the Tamron's however, as i never got to play outside with the Sigma. i think they demonstrate the difference in the lens, which to be fair are by design supposed to do very different jobs, the SP90 on the right a great portriat and macro lens and the 10mm zooms awesome super wide angle.

so, were did my money go, nowhere I'm afraid, the price just too steep for me today, for the Sigma, which i think was the chosen lens. (i think, lol) Why? well i felt it added some real impact to shots and just allowed you to play with perspective and gave great effects to clouds and lines. but it was also pin sharp and didn't show the flaws until it was zoomed to 300% by which time it was the cameras pixilation that gave way..

i went to Carmarthen steam railway after playing and longed for the lens for the whole time i was there. enough said i guess. so time to save a few more pennies and look out for some deals. cos i think that is by sure the next purchase,

Day 21: A cheeky ask

Well it seems that it doesn't hurt to ask, a lovely young air traffic controller walked us on to the airfield in pembry  just so we could play cameras.... mwahahahaha

Evolve Studio: Day 20

The band room at work, spent 4 hours with Jen volunteering to turn the dumping space into this little gem! next week gonna set up the PA, wire the decks up, sort the computer and install studio software, then I'm gonna enjoy rocking out at work!!!

Anyhow day 20's a record shot cos I didn't finish till late after a long old day, so enjoy the labour in both respects,

Cheers, Steve.

lost in the muse.

Well I went to Steves work this eve to give him help to move the music room for the kids. Even tho we were there untill 10.30 in the night i enjoyed it, and it also gave me the chance to play with the music equipment for my 365. I think a win win there.. hehehe well happy with this shot

Day 19: Loving the whachimacallit

Well glad I got my little pop up studio light box thingy.... coming in handy on nights like tonight...

Jennyxx

A bit of old a bit of new

So pleased with this little fella tonight, I think the edit works wonders on it, and i should hope so, had more layers than a eskimo! I have to thank Jen for her patience with me and Photoshop too. :)

Best of all, I remembered a light tonight.

day 19, Done!

Wednesday 18 January 2012

Day 18: Fun in the.... um mist

Wasn't feeling the love for going out today but with the weather looking so murky I wanted to see what kind of shot I could get out in it (not really tried misty).

Surprisingly I enjoyed walking around for two hours damp and cold (some may call me weird).

I also saw this shot, climbed down, took it and and realised I got my self stuck. Well who's a smart girl (not me).....

Jennyxx

lens watch!

Camera club tonight, and playing with a D300 and Sigma 10-20mm f4.... Felt like a kid in a candy shop so I think thats why the candy store caught my eye.

I was so busy marvelling with the lenses effect on perspective I didn't notice Jen capture this shot of me.

Any hows I have fallen in love with this lens I think and  think the camera should follow soon too, just need to save a bit, or sell the car!!

Who's watching?

Hi guys and gals! I hope? Just a quick request if your watching please comment or feedback what you think. Jen and I would love to know what you think of the journey and would love to knows who's watching (you can post anonymously though) help spur us along and tell us what you think we're doing well or what you think we could have done better. Are there any shots you really like and would love to see us tackle, perhaps you have some ideas you'd like us to try out (clean please Craig it's a family show).

Anyhow thanks for the veiws and we hope we give you some images that make you think, smile, chuckle or even suprise you! Photography is a weird hobby, it's all about taking pics for me, slightly about editing and then about showing, but it's always about just being out with the camera, spending time clicking that shutter and thinking through a idea, while standing on one leg balanced over a river with several hundred pounds worth of gear stretched out at arms reach, or perhaps lost in the pitch dark trying to see what your focusing on, and wondering why the hell you didn't put the third pair of socks on... Sometimes just being lost in the viewfinder adjusting the flash and trying to focus on bug an inch away...

I love it, but critic is always a healthy way to learn more ideas or know the truth behind that supper dooper image you think others will just be astounded at but secretly just don't get... :)

Thanks

 Steve

day 17, beware the dead might not sleep so heavily!!

This angry looking women was a bit displeased to be having her photo taken... and decided to wake from her slumber and shake a few legs at me!!!
all would have been ok, but at that magnification down the barrel of a camera, well you can do the maths!!

Im not that pleased with the shot if I'm honest, focus isn't the best and it was a bit dark and shiny at the same time, hence the grain!!! but its day 17 folks!

Steve

Day 17: harsh winter to come

Was well suprised when the kids in the street stumbled upon this little fella in the middle of winter... This has been freaky weather we have been having. Poor guy isnt gonna surive the harshness of the cold snap too come.. But a lesson the kids had today on caterpillars

day 16, tranquil retreat

this little slice of heaven was built by young people at my work, its a dry stone wall and cob seating and a timber frame shelter and turf roof, very lush and the shells crunch and crackle under your feet! i blissful retreat form the mayhem!

Steve

Day 16 : nom nom

Steves treat tomorrow i supose, thats if my son doesn't find them lol

WHAT!!! you'd better hide them (Steve)

Sunday 15 January 2012

day 15.. i thought i saw a puddy cat!!!

Found the old thunder cat lurking menacing in the garage, snarling like a snared beast, so i set her free and we went for a ice cream... by the way, its very cold out there!

funnily enough Jen has posted a pic (unknown to me) that was the inspiration for her photography, thanks to her dad.. well after years of not being interested i followed the family hoody and also got a bike! which i chose to share for you today!

Steve

Day 15 inspiration

This is my dads old camera, he is one of the reasons for why I have been intrested in photography. When I was a teen he showed me this camera and we spent an afternoon playing with it. That sparked something in me, it is only this year I have rekindled that desire for photography thanx to Steve..... thanx to both of you.

Saturday 14 January 2012

Day 14: Boddingtons soup

Andy Warhol's Campbell Soup art became iconic, not only for its impact upon art and Pop Art but also because of the design of the tin reflecting the times.

Well 2012, Boddingtons and the pallet of beer lining the aisle of Tesco, might be seen to be as iconic a reflection of modern times as the soup was!

Not a true homage to Andy and Pop Art but a fun image. I wonder if Andy got as many funny looks painting his soup as I did photographing mine!!

Steve

Day 14: Parc y Shambles

Scarlets Vs Northampton saints... 2 bitter experiences. Heineken cup thrown away from lethargic second half performance, and rent a cop asking us to put the camera away as it was deemed to be for professional use as it had a "black and big" telephoto lens!

its a sad day that we are living in when it has become against the rules to take a camera to a rugby club! (Steve)

Friday 13 January 2012

Day 13

Found this fella in my house.. One of the only bugs that really creep me out and I got really stressed and grumpy taking this shot. To get this shot I used Steve's set up for macro.

Carl Zeiss Flektogon 2.4/35mm reverse mounted on a set of 49mm extension tubes...

Jenny xx

day 13 lost in the mist

my mother always tells me 'a good photographer always carries there camera' well today i listened, and I'm glad i did, lovely misty morn on the way to work, shame i had to go to work could wander for hours in that!

Steve!

Thursday 12 January 2012

Day 12

Last minute attempt... opps... But its a good edit I think

Jennyxx

day 12 finger puppet

OMG! This challenge gets tough, but we found this on the floor in work and i had to snap.. ok so i looked a idiot, but hey nothing new there.

i loved the idea of a vintage tired look and i think its worked. its all in the edit you know.

day 12 moral is low

Steve.

Wednesday 11 January 2012

Day 11

Well this one is more of a snap, but I realize with this challenge that you must take any opportunity in the day to take a shot... I like it even though it is not the best of pics.
I did find this challenge hard and i became de-motivated in the first week, but after a lecture of steve  (which i needed to be honest) ive taken a new perspective on it. Think this could be fun. hehehe

Jenny xx

day 11 match point

Well I left this one to the last minute, literally... But quite pleased. I must get photos in the morning if I'm working in the night cos otherwise its gonna be a painful year!

Steve
